The 30th release on Phonica Records comes from Melbourne based artist Escape Artist, who’s been known for genre-blending releases on labels such as Kalahari Oyster Cult or Salt Mines. The four-tracker Energy Breakthrough, consisting out of three original takes and a remix from Adam Pits for the EP’s title track, takes the same line as his previous works, namely it combines Breakbeat, House and nuances of Techno and Acid resulting in a homogenous and well-balanced musical approach meant to aim at the dance floors. The B1, The Dreams We All Share, wins listeners over its addictive Breakbeat-infused bass line, which is enriched with spaced-out synth melodies and intriguing 303 Acid bleeps and squiggles. The latter features drag one deeper and deeper into the tracks’s hypnotic vibe before the bleeps culminate in a short but effective lazer-esque break to then release its energy and make listeners drift into the (club) night.
